INTERIOR DESIGN TRENDS FROM 2019

October 30, 2019 by Danielle Negroni Leave a Comment

Interior design trends are constantly changing; it can be hard to keep up with what’s popular! If you’re preparing to stage your home to sell, or just want some ideas to refresh your home, here are some of my favorite current trends from the last year:

Natural Materials and Patterns

From light pendants made with woven branches to tables made of petrified wood, people are turning to natural materials and patterns for inspiration. Medium-tone woods are more popular than dark or light woods. For a warm and cozy kitchen, try using a mix of different woods instead of the go-to tile or stone.

Artisanal and Handmade Details

Want to make your home stand out from every other home on the block? Search selections of handmade goods to add unique pieces of decor that no one else will have! From personalized wall art to hand-woven rugs to custom drawer pulls, adding artisanal details is an easy way to personalize your home.

Color

Color is making a comeback. While in the past, interior design trends have tended to the minimalistic and clean, people have started to reject the all-white trend in favor of a little color. Just be careful that if you’re planning to list your home soon, you don’t overdo it! While homeowners are craving more color in their homes, buyers still need to be able to imagine themselves living in your space.

Bold Wallpaper

It might seem old fashioned, but wallpaper is making a comeback in homes across the country. Though today’s wallpaper is modern, colorful, and on-trend! Gone are the tiny flowers and damask. In their place are stripes, palm leaves, animals, abstract designs, and almost any print you can think of! Whether it’s used on an accent wall or just to add some interest in a small bathroom, wallpaper can really pull a space together.

A Touch of Blush Pink

If there’s one color that seems to be here to stay, it’s blush pink. Benjamin Moore even chose First Light, a pale rosy pink, for its 2020 Color of the Year. Pale pink is considered to exert a calming and relaxing effect, making it the perfect choice for most spaces in the home. Use it in upholstery, drapery, or rugs for a pretty burst of color in a room.

Mix and Match Metals

A kitchen trend that’s been making a splash in recent years is the use of different metals throughout a room. Mixing and matching hardware, light fixtures, and drawer pulls can add some visual interest to a kitchen or a bathroom. And if you get bored of this trend or want to achieve a uniform look before listing your home, it’s relatively easy and inexpensive to change these items again in the future.

Performance Fabrics Everywhere

Durability is on the rise. Gone are the days where performance fabrics were scratchy and uncomfortable. Now, performance fabrics are softer and more comfortable than ever which means they’re showing up in indoor AND outdoor furniture. Stain-resistant and easy to clean, performance fabrics are the ideal choice for active families with kids and pets. Click here to learn more.

The Best Coffee Shops in Carmel Valley and Del Mar San Diego

September 4, 2019 by Danielle Negroni Leave a Comment

I love coffee. There’s nothing like a cup to start your day, or a cup in the afternoon for a quick pick-me-up. And in San Diego, more and more great coffee shops have been opening! Here’s a list of some of the best places to grab a cup of joe in Carmel Valley and Del Mar.

Philz Coffee in Carmel Valley

Philz Coffee is located in the Del Mar Highlands Town Center, between the Tilly’s and Mendocino Farms. When you go in, you’re greeted with a counter of baristas, each making custom order pour-over coffees. Just line up at the bar and place your order, before heading to the cash register to pay. Try their Tesora, a medium roast, if you’re looking for something hot. Or, their mint mojito will turn anybody into an iced coffee fan.

Joe & the Juice in Carmel Valley

Located at the One Paseo shopping center right off the 5, Joe & The Juice is a juice bar and coffee shop! With large tables both inside and outside, it’s a great place to grab a drink and relax while enjoying the San Diego weather. They also have some great sandwiches, making this place is a go-to for brunch.

Blue Bottle Coffee in Carmel Valley

Blue Bottle Coffee sells some of the freshest coffee. Also located at One Paseo, Blue Bottle Coffee is a bright and airy store perfect for getting coffee to go or sitting down and getting some work done. At Blue Bottle, less is more. Try their cold brew, or for something hot, their espresso made with Hayes Valley beans is one of the smoothest I’ve ever had.

Birdrock Coffee in Del Mar

Is there anything more quintessential San Diego than sunny weather and an ocean view? Birdrock Coffee by the Torrey Pines Beach lets you enjoy some fresh coffee with an ocean breeze from its prime location. Named one of the Best Coffee Roasters in America by Forbes in 2018, Birdrock always offers a high-quality cup. I recommend their lattes; the macadamia nut latte is a favorite! Click here to get directions.

Swell Coffee in Del Mar

The ambiance at Swell can’t be beat, and since they roast their own coffee, neither can the coffee. Swell is a great place to sit down, order a drink “for here,” and just relax. For something different, try their matcha lattes. Their cold brews are also a great way to beat the sunny heat. Click here to get directions. Swell Coffee is also located next to my favorite yoga studio, CorePower Yoga.

These are just some of the best coffee shops I’ve tried locally, but San Diego has so many more wonderful spots. What are your favorite places to grab a cup of coffee? Let me know down in the comments!

All About Kaaboo Del Mar Music Festival 2019

August 19, 2019 by Danielle Negroni Leave a Comment

The end of summer doesn’t mean less to do. The kids going back to school means more time for adult fun! San Diego’s fantastic weather means there are outdoor activities year-round. One of my favorite fall events is the KAABOO Del Mar Music festival, and today I’m going to give you the inside scoop.

What is KAABOO?

KAABOO is a music and art festival for adults held at the Del Mar Racetrack in mid-September from Friday, September 13 to Sunday, September 15. An all-around artistic experience, not only does it have an amazing music line-up, it also features galleries of art and great food.

Who’s Playing?

KAABOO has an amazing music lineup with artists featuring a wide range of music! From rock bands like Kings of Leon, Dave Matthews Band, Mumford & Sons, and OneRepublic, to hip-hop artists such as Snoop Dogg and Wu-Tang Clan, to even new-wave bands like Duran Duran and pop artists like Colbie Caillat, KAABOO has music for every music lover.

There’s also a comedy club featuring nationally renowned comedians such as Pete Holmes (from TV show Crashing) and Jimmy O. Yang (Silicon Valley, Crazy Rich Asians).

Check out their full lineup online here.

What is There To Do?

With a full lineup, there’s plenty of music to listen to. But if music isn’t your jam, then there’s also a comedy club for some laughs. They also have a lineup of mural and installation artists, as well as galleries full of exhibiting artists. It’s really an all-around artistic experience.

Part of the fun of festivals is eating and drinking, and KAABOO doesn’t disappoint with PALATE, dedicated to chefs making gourmet delicacies paired with great drink. And, since this is a place for adults to escape the grind of everyday life, there’s also a spa! It’s great to get to relax with a massage or try out new treatments like IV nutrient therapy. And, it wouldn’t be a San Diego getaway if you didn’t have a chance to enjoy a pool. KAABOO also has a Vegas-style pool club in partnership with MGM Resorts called BASK, where you can party in the ever-sunny San Diego weather.

Getting There and Parking

Located at the Del Mar Racetrack and Fairgrounds, KAABOO is easy to get to from all around San Diego county. There are lots of ways to get to KAABOO using public transportation, their shuttle service, or driving.

If you’re coming from further away, the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner stops at the Solana Beach station and a shuttle bus will take you straight to the main gates. If you’re already in the area, the NCTD or the MTS bus are running on their regular schedule as well.

Otherwise KAABOO has a shuttle service running from Oceanside, San Diego, and San Marcos that’ll get you right by the main entrance. It’s a great way to get to the festival without having to worry about the stress of parking.

Finally, there’s on-site parking available during the day at the racetrack and fairgrounds. Since you can purchase the parking in advance, it’s a way to guarantee yourself a parking spot so you’ll have your car near you all day.

Staying Nearby

One of the fun parts of going to a festival is getting to take a mini-vacation and not have to worry about the house. KAABOO has several hotel options that offer discount rates, such as the Fairmont Grand Del Mar. Check out all of their hotel options on their site here.

Buy Tickets

If you’re interested in going to KAABOO, you can get your tickets online right now from their website. They have weekend passes as well as day passes starting from $129.00. What are some of your favorite festivals? Leave me a comment below

Why Now is a Great Time to Buy a Home in San Diego

April 22, 2019 by Danielle Negroni Leave a Comment

If you’ve been waiting for a sign that now is a great time to buy a home in San Diego, this is it! We are currently experiencing the Real Estate Trifecta of perfect home-buying conditions: increasing inventory, homes spending more days on the market, and low interest rates. But how does this Real Estate Trifecta really affect you as a prospective home buyer?

Increasing Inventory

If you’re in the market to buy a home, increasing inventory is a very good thing especially if you’re looking to buy in one of San Diego’s most desirable neighborhoods. Unlike years past where too many buyers competed for too few homes, buyers today have a lot more properties to pick from. While some homes still receive multiple offers, overall there is less competition. This is particularly true over the past few weeks with the recent surge of listings.

Longer Days on Market

Across the county, homes are taking 6% longer to sell than they were a year ago. While that increase might not seem like much, homes now spend an average of 35 days on the market – too long for some sellers. In an effort to get their home into escrow, many sellers resort to lowering their asking price. This is good news for you! Not only will you potentially pay less for your home, the sellers may be willing to further negotiate with you to get the property under contract.

Low Interest Rates

While the Federal Reserve initially planned to raise interest rates over the course of this year, at its March meeting the Fed announced that short-term interest rates will instead remain unchanged for the remainder of 2019. Again, this is good news for you! As of writing, the average 30-year fixed rate is hovering just above 4.0% – still historically low. And the lower the interest rate, the more home you can afford to buy.

While I can safely say that the Real Estate Trifecta will make this spring and summer an amazing time to buy, it’s anybody’s guess what the future will hold beyond this time. So don’t wait – call me at (858) 735-5767 to get started today!

  • "Danielle really spent the time educating us about the different neighborhoods in San Diego County so we could make an informed decision about where to purchase a home based upon our family's needs and not just a quick sale. She really worked above and beyond.”

    - Julianne S.

  • “I asked Danielle to help my 73 year old mother find a place to live. She worked tirelessly to find my mom the best solution for her situation. I was so impressed and relieved knowing that Danielle was looking out for her best interest. She is a rare find.”

    - Monica D.

  • “Because we are re-locating to San Diego, it was so helpful to learn from Danielle how to enroll our kids in school, where our girls could take dance lessons and how to sign up for the local soccer program. I would hire Danielle again in a second!”

    - Amy A.

  • “Danielle helped us sell our home in a very difficult market. We would recommend Danielle to anyone looking for an agent who will understand their needs, anxieties, and budget. You could very well come away with a new great friend as well.”
